A vintage textile Rebecca found in Tokyo and her memories of fields of grass inspired this print. While experimenting in her sketchbook with the motif from the fabric fragment, Rebecca noticed how the shapes she painted resembled the little buds that pop up as grass grows taller and begins to seed. Use this fabric indoors or out. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric, but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about the landscape textures and how we need these textures in our home to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.

At the beginning of spring, Rebecca walked to the Brooklyn Bridge Park and laid on a blanket, thrilled that warmer weather and greenery were starting to return to New York. She was looking through the grass and found a four-leaf clover, and then more! It served as a reminder to look for the good: the silver linings, the happy moments. There are times where you need happy, playful reminders in your home. Rebecca referenced Josef Frank, an iconic designer, and his clover pattern.

Alder repeats an abstract dripping pattern that reminded Rebecca of the catkins of an alder tree. The single-color print allows the linen ground (ivory or oatmeal, depending on the color) to show through, adding to its textured appearance—almost like a pair of Japanese selvedge jeans. KELP GREEN has yellowy undertones that remind Rebecca of seaweed and make it sunnier than our blue-greens. In this color, Alder appears to be almost swaying or growing underwater. This woven quality reminds Rebecca of needlepoint. A simple plaid, this design started as a meditative practice to begin a painting session. Rebecca used India Ink, overlaying the same wash of ink to create a basket-like weave. The subtle darkening that occurs when one long stripe crosses over the next was pleasing to watch. Reminiscent of fencing, it calls to mind the different structures we use to tame nature within a garden. The repetition and structure they provide feel settling.
