At the beginning of spring, Rebecca walked to the Brooklyn Bridge Park and laid on a blanket, thrilled that warmer weather and greenery were starting to return to New York. She was looking through the grass and found a four-leaf clover, and then more! It served as a reminder to look for the good: the silver linings, the happy moments. There are times where you need happy, playful reminders in your home. Rebecca referenced Josef Frank, an iconic designer, and his clover pattern.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Wildflower Fabric in Navy/Leaf

This pattern was meant to capture the joy of finding little patches of beauty in unexpected places. Rebecca painted the original artwork while working on a series of ideas for florals and drew inspiration for this iteration from the pop of color wildflowers bring to a grassy field and the charm of city flowers that manage to bloom through a crack in the concrete. Rebecca Atwood Designs Floret Fabric in Brown/Mauve

Rebecca Atwood Designs Floret Fabric in Brown/Mauve

Use this fabric indoors or out. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about landscape textures and how we need these textures in our homes to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Small Daisy Fabric in Gray/Yellow

Rebecca Atwood Designs Small Daisy Fabric in Gray/Yellow

Bursts of nature always bring happiness. Small daisies seem to be very resilient flowers that thrive in surprising places. Rebecca often notices them popping out of a crack in the sidewalk or a field by the side of the road. They’re common and unassuming, but cheery. We loved the idea of something small-scale that would read texturally from across a room, but offer the same unexpected joy of spotting daisies when viewed up close. Use this pattern somewhere you need a spot of joy. This fabric is a part of our Archive Collection.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Scattered Foliage Embroidered Fabric in White

Leaves are one of Rebecca’s favorite motifs to sketch. Here, they’re joyful and abstract, thickly strewn on our white linen ground as if they just fell from the tree. Embroidery gives the closely set, bud-like shapes a soft, dreamy quality.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Perennial Blooms Fabric in Multi Goldenrod

Rebecca Atwood Designs Perennial Blooms Fabric in Multi Goldenrod

Use this fabric indoors or out. This design began as a larger painting on paper, playing with the shape of a simple flower. Rebecca pushed her brush onto the paper repetitively in different colors to create this field of blooms. After creating the original artwork, she enlarged the scale to add playfulness. For a more abstract layout, use this pattern on smaller pieces, like a pillow, or embrace the garden experience and use it on patio furniture or a kitchen banquette. The multi-colored design makes it easy to build a color palette. This colorway is available while supplies last.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Horizon Fabric in Shore

Rebecca Atwood Designs Horizon Fabric in Shore

This fabric is intended for indoor use. For our first “solid” fabric, Rebecca wanted something that would be durable and a great basic, but that also made it easier to layer within a color palette—or even build one from. We rarely see flat colors in big swaths in nature. Our natural world is so complex. We see a field of grass, but it’s full of tonal variation and movement. She wanted to explore this concept in an upholstery fabric as if you covered your sofa in a natural landscape. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

Rebecca Atwood Designs Embroidered Dots Sheer Fabric in Gray

The fun textures and colors of this vintage-feeling fabric make it ideal for layering. The raised embroidery is a twisted, more organic take on a French knot motif; think of them like the centers of flowers that have lost their petals. The simple contrasting shades just feel easy together as a charming finishing touch.

Rebecca Atwood Designs Blocks Fabric in Sage/Marine

Rebecca Atwood Designs Blocks Fabric in Sage/Marine

This woven quality reminds Rebecca of needlepoint. Her great-aunt Libby was an avid needle-pointer and growing up, she had needlepoint seat cushions at her dining table, and little framed pieces hanging on the wall. Rebecca wanted to explore something graphic because the weave is so textural. She looked to small, geometric, vintage patterns – like the ones you’d find on the inside of a book cover. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

Rebecca Atwood Designs Thatched Pillow in Sand

Rebecca Atwood Designs Thatched Pillow in Sand

A simple plaid, this design started as a meditative practice to begin a painting session. Rebecca used India Ink, overlaying the same wash of ink to create a basket-like weave. The subtle darkening that occurs when one long stripe crosses over the next was pleasing to watch. Reminiscent of fencing, it calls to mind the different structures we use to tame nature within a garden. The repetition and structure they provide feel settling. We love it against wrought iron detailing or ivy-covered brick. For pillow fabric details please click here .
