A natural earth pigment that is lightfast and transparent with a fair amount of texture. Slate green is a natural stone chalk that has been ground down into a fine powder which we've found to have a lovely grittiness to it. All of our watercolors handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine and distilled water. CfM Oxalis captures the cheery yellow of the California wildflower also known as Woodsorrel, which Bay Area locals might remember from childhood as Sourgrass. There's a lot we can say about this stunner, but to put it simply, we're obsessed! This deep turquoise is a lot brighter than our beloved CfM Pacific, which is soft and creamy in comparison to this bold, intense color. They're two different parts of the ocean, on opposite sides of the world! Like CfM Topaz, CfM Aqua's dimension and liveliness is created by the different weights of the pigments included the blend. Here in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, we spend a lot of time looking towards the ocean. Our street climbs up from the beach in a gentle rise over a few blocks, so we just have to step out from the shop and our favorite view of the horizon is always there at the bottom of the hill. CfM Horizon harnesses the soft blue/green with a touch of grey that feels so familiar to us out here in the foggy coastal zone near the Bay– a little bit of home in color! Indigo was one of our first handmade watercolors, a must-have in a palette! This rich synthetic color simulates Genuine Indigo and provides a wide range of tones—at its darkest it appears almost black! Both colors are fantastic for layering, glazing, and color mixing (a little bit goes a long way!) and are wonderfully opaque at full saturation.
