THURSDAY, JULY 2, 6:30pm - 8:30pm PT This is an in-person workshop at CfM Art Room: 4035 Judah St, San Francisco, next door to our shop! Join us in a relaxed and supportive creative space where we'll explore how drawing and watercolor can interact in our work. This casual, open-format class is designed for artists of all levels to experiment with integrating line work and color layering. Still life setups will be available to spark inspiration, and loose, guided instruction will be provided based on the work that emerges. Bring your own projects or start something new!

This abstract mark-making and mixed media workshop will explore intuitive ways of making marks to develop freedom and confidence in the process. We will begin with activities designed to explore materials and experiment with various approaches to creating marks. We will then cut & collage the papers we created in warm-up activities, add additional material, and explore meaning through the creation of an abstract piece rooted in your unique sensibility.

This workshop will focus on a few basics of having and using gouache, I will show how I use gouache, we will touch on some basics around what sets it apart from watercolor, how to build a palette using honey and a watercolor tin and then we will work on paintings using a still life that will be softly lit either inside or outside in the backyard with the changing evening light to work on layering and color mixing.
