Our rich, sweet Smoked Pimentón Paprika comes from a protected region in Western Spain, where sweet red peppers have been grown and smoked for centuries. Fresh peppers are slowly dried over oak coals, which imbue them with a rich, smoky flavor that imparts a savory depth and gorgeous color. Use it to add depth and complexity to pasta sauce or chili, use it as a rub for grilled or roasted meats, or sprinkle it over sauteed veggies. This paprika comes from the Extremadura region, famous for pimentón de la vera , which has a Designation of Protected Origin status from the European Union.

Our savory, herbaceous Red River Coriander is an heirloom varietal with small, dark seeds. It is aromatic and boldly flavored, with earthy undertones and just a touch of lemon zest. Grind fresh or add it to dishes that are going to simmer for a long time, so that the nutty, herbaceous flavor is allowed to truly bloom. This coriander is grown by a collective of Hmong farmers along the Red River in the northern highlands Vietnam.

Burlap & Barrel Black Urfa Chili
Our Black Urfa Chili comes from Urfa, Turkey, where it has been grown and cured for centuries. It has a rich, malty flavor with a lingering burn. The chilis ripen to a bright red color, then are laid out under sheets in the hot summer sun. This technique cures the pepper in its own juices and gives it a deep umami flavor and beautiful dark color. Great in stews, tomato sauces, salad dressings, chocolate desserts or sprinkled over fluffy scrambled eggs. Please note that the Black Urfa Chili contains a little sunflower oil and may appear to be slightly clumpy or wet.

Our richly fragrant Cardamom Extract is a beautiful take on the traditional extract, made with our cardamom seeds from Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. A beautiful golden color, this extract can be swapped 1:1 for vanilla extract. It's excellent in baked goods, drinks, puddings, coffee and anywhere else you want a splash of tropical cardamom flavor. Add a botanical burst to your favorite martini, or make a refreshing, citrusy cocktail, with or without alcohol. This extract is a slow-crafted custom blend made in collaboration with Bittercube.

Our Kashmiri Chili Powder is an heirloom variety grown in Kashmir. The chilis are prized for their flavor and vibrant red color, which imparts a beautiful hue to rubs for Tandoori meats and stews like Rogan Josh. The rich color and bright, sweet flavor make this chili powder a perfect everyday alternative to cayenne, and the full, round taste is a welcome addition anywhere you might use cayenne pepper or hot paprika. Ours is hotter than others you may have tried!
Burlap & Barrel Cinnamon Verum
Our Cinnamon Verum (aka Ceylon cinnamon or "true" cinnamon) is complex, herbal and a little savory, with notes of pine, citrus peel and sea salt. It comes from Zanzibar, where our partner farmers harvest the inner bark of the cinnamon tree, then dry and grind it. It's perfect for savory dishes like tomato sauces, stews, chili and barbecue rubs. It's often used in Mexican and Southeast Asian cooking, and the flavor blooms beautifully when it's heated! If you're looking for a more familiar but extra-sweet and spicy cinnamon, you might like our Royal Cinnamon as well.

Burlap & Barrel Nyanza Vanilla Beans
Our Nyanza Vanilla is grown in the hills around Nyanza (aka Lake Victoria) in Tanzania, where the altitude, rich soil and temperate climate produce an especially rich, sweet vanilla. This Grade A Nyanza Vanilla comes in a bamboo tube or plastic container with an inner pouch or pouches that keep the vanilla pods fresh . Cut the pods open and scrape the seeds into custards, ice cream or other rich desserts (use the empty pods for vanilla sugar!). Or infuse them with alcohol of your choice for homemade extract. Also available as vanilla powder and vanilla extract kits .
