Case for Making Pewter Lake

A lake pigment that is lightfast and semi-transparent and very smooth to paint with, Pewter Lake is made from a French mineral pigment that is fixed to a natural calcium carbonate base which gives these specific lake pigments a soft, velvety and matte finish when dry. All of our watercolors handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine and distilled water. Half Pans contain around 2ml of paint and are approximately 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" deep.

A natural earth pigment that is lightfast and transparent with a fair amount of texture. Slate green is a natural stone chalk that has been ground down into a fine powder which we've found to have a lovely grittiness to it. Thursday, July 30, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PT This is an online workshop held via Zoom. Dorothy Hood was born in 1918 and spent her life in both Mexico and Texas. Her large abstract paintings are full of hard and soft edges, moments where the paint pools and gathers and places where the paint makes crisp lines and angles. Her colors are bold and inspired by the full range of colors found in both Mexico and Texas. With watercolors, we will play with some of Dorothy’s shapes by creating hard edges with tape, letting the watercolors be soft and blend, and create dynamic shapes with layered colors.
