Case for Making Miso #1

This series of paintings was created to celebrate the female purveyors behind the San Francisco restaurant, Flour + Water's, special Women's Month tasting menu. Size 9" x 12" 11 people from our team worked together to collectively create these watercolor paintings, one color mark at a time. Our team is inspired by curiosity, craft and experimentation and we made this series of works in celebration of the visionary women behind each of these beautiful ingredients. We're happy to offer them for sale here as the first original artworks created by our team.

For this cool, soothing green, we were inspired by our neighbor, the Pacific Ocean! Ah, summer swims, and those perfect green-blue waters off the coast of Big Sur. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness! Half Pans measure ~3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" and contain ~2ml of paint.

CfM Oxalis captures the cheery yellow of the California wildflower also known as Woodsorrel, which Bay Area locals might remember from childhood as Sourgrass. Here in San Francisco, Oxalis seems to pop up from every available patch of soil in mid-February, and we wanted to celebrate this annual harbinger of spring! Oxalis flowers make a wonderful, potent natural yellow dye, and CfM Oxalis was inspired by the flower and the slightly more orange dye bath.
