Alder repeats an abstract dripping pattern that reminded Rebecca of the catkins of an alder tree. The single-color print allows the linen ground (ivory or oatmeal, depending on the color) to show through, adding to its textured appearance—almost like a pair of Japanese selvedge jeans. In CLEAR SKY, hints of the ivory linen show through giving it dimension, like a cloud itself. It’s a natural layering partner for our many patterns in midtone blues. Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each of the colors contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints.
