She loved how the hazy effect of the pencil created a multicolor stripe that’s bright but livable and versatile. Inspired by the sun and moon ceramics hanging on the door of the hotel, Rebecca created her own interpretation of this celestial concept. Rebecca enjoys working with cut paper. The physicality of creating a shape out of a piece of paper, the way it makes the lines crisper, and the irreversibility of it are some of her favorite aspects of this method. There’s a bit you can’t control as you get going. She had the idea to create a leafy fern design by cutting long leaves out of the marbled papers. The softness of the marble against the graphic cut-out leaves creates a pattern within a pattern, a world within a world. With the large repeat, this design has a lot of movement and life.

A vintage textile Rebecca found in Tokyo and her memories of fields of grass inspired this print. While experimenting in her sketchbook with the motif from the fabric fragment, Rebecca noticed how the shapes she painted resembled the little buds that pop up as grass grows taller and begins to seed. This pattern was inspired by a picture Rebecca snapped of long grass while visiting Portland, Oregon. Travel heightens awareness of your surroundings and invites discovery. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about landscape textures and how we need these textures in our homes to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.
