Rebecca Atwood Designs Floret Pillow in Graphite

Use this fabric indoors or out. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about landscape textures and how we need these textures in our homes to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.

Lattices help guide rambling vines, and the diamonds of the structure can also add geometry and dimension to a garden. Here the pattern is reduced to a small scale and creates an easy texture for layering other patterns, colors, and textures against. This pattern began as a large painting inspired by memories of vintage textiles in Rebecca's childhood attic. While creating the batik-inspired motifs, she wanted to capture soft unfurling of spring when the air is filled with blooms, buds, and leaves. The colored ground makes this pattern versatile, as you can pair it with patterns that have an ivory ground for an airier look or with other deeper tones for a cozier vibe. The scheme of a room can start with this large repeat, which mixes well with small and mid-sized prints.

Use this fabric indoors or out. A briar is a prickly shrub and often the word brings to mind wild roses. Rebecca loves that these plants are tough, but also beautiful. They grow along the beach near her childhood home and have survived hurricanes and nor’easters to bloom the next year. The small crosses also remind her of the first seedlings popping through the dirt when herbs are planted in little pots. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

This unfurling botanical pattern has an air of formality that owes not just to its classical motif but also to its very special texture. Made using a heritage French weaving technique called Liser é , this fabric uses our artisan-dyed warp yarn for the ground and a combination of two mercerized cotton yarns and a slub rayon yarn for the raised vine design. This fabric is intended for indoor use. For our first “solid” fabric, Rebecca wanted something that would be durable and a great basic, but that also made it easier to layer within a color palette—or even build one from. We rarely see flat colors in big swaths in nature. Our natural world is so complex. We see a field of grass, but it’s full of tonal variation and movement. Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each of the colors contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints.
