Case for Making Turquoise Lake

A lake pigment that is lightfast and semi-transparent and very smooth to paint with, Turquoise Lake is made from a French mineral pigment that is fixed to a natural calcium carbonate base which gives these specific lake pigments a soft, velvety and matte finish when dry. All of our watercolors handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine and distilled water. Half Pans contain around 2ml of paint and are approximately 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" deep.

Our ultimate blended brown! Cocoa is a careful mix of 6 (!!) of our core collection colors—the most out of all our blends, with Lime and Ruby in close second. Compared to Burnt Umber Dark and Reddish—both beautiful, single origin earth pigments that lend texture and transparency—Cocoa is a smooth, opaque alternative with a lovely ultra-matte finish. The cool thing about Cocoa is that the colors used to make this blend include two different reds, two yellows, and two blues!
