These happy dots grew out of color studies in the pages of Rebecca’s sketchbooks. They play wonderfully well together, and can easily inspire the pattern for a whole room or smooth the transition from one space into another. Picture dandelion fluff suspended in the air—that’s what inspired me to create this imperfect dot pattern. I really liked the idea of flurries or particles of dust floating and illuminated by light for a wallpaper. The dots are quick, small brush strokes, the opposite of perfect circles. That gives the pattern a light, floaty, and fleeting atmosphere that I love. This wallpaper is a part of our Archive Collection.

This pattern was inspired by a picture Rebecca snapped of long grass while visiting Portland, Oregon. Travel heightens awareness of your surroundings and invites discovery. Rebecca remembers these long grasses leaning against one another, layering to create a rich texture. She started making a large painting and watched how the shapes connected and overlapped, and how the color could intertwine to create atmosphere. Pulled from Rebecca’s sketchbook, Speckled is a foundational pattern that adds quiet but evocative movement. Created by layering small brushmarks over an ink wash ground, it captures the movement of natural landscapes shaped by time. The subtle swirled direction of the marks references seeds dispersed by the wind, stones pushed onto the shore by waves, and dappled light filtering through leaves. Designed to coordinate with our Bubbles mural to continue the pattern onto a ceiling, this subtle print looks equally lovely on its own. It calls to mind fading seafoam or falling grains of sand, but without the larger mural for context it can also read as floating specks of dust, snow flurries, or tiny drops of beaded rain, all softly illuminated and suspended in motion. Rebecca has been reflecting on the concepts of fields and hills. Looking out at the horizon, a landscape, or a panoramic view can be comforting. Round shapes are playful and evoke happiness, which is a feeling she always wants at home. She wanted to create something with round shapes, while also referencing the textures of grass, and the result was this pattern. It has movement to it and is airy and textural.
