Case for Making CfM Denim

Our response to September 9th, 2020, when smoke and ash from a devastating fire season hovered above the Bay Area marine layer, blocking out the daylight. Custom blended from four of our core pigments, Climate Change is Real represents the color of the sky the day the sun didn't rise. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!

A natural light ochre earth pigment sourced in France, lightfast and semi-transparent. Has a smooth texture and works well as a highlight color. We have some seconds available in this color. We deem a half pan second quality when it is too low, too full or a bit too cracked to sell at full price. Available until we run out! A smooth, semi-transparent and lightfast lake pigment. It’s made by fixing a manufactured French mineral pigment to a natural calcium carbonate base, which gives it a soft, velvety matte finish when dry. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness! Half Pans measure ~3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" and contain ~2ml of paint.

100% cotton, cold press watercolor paper with the lovely, soft texture of our dreams! Ideal for watercolor, gouache or inks, and wonderfully compatible with our favorite Nichiban masking tape or liquid frisket . When our manufacturer gauged our interest in colorful glued edges, we of course replied, "Well, how many colors can we have?!" We really didn't anticipate how cute they would turn out—and we're absolutely obsessed! The blocks are glue-bound on all four sides, so your paper stays flat while you paint and as your work dries.

This lovely green is made of earth from the city Nicosia in Cyprus. It's light and transparent, with a slightly gritty texture. When Nicosia is fully saturated it resembles French Pale Green, though more transparent and textured. We've included a side by side image for comparison. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!

Indigo was one of our first handmade watercolors, a must-have in a palette! This rich synthetic color simulates Genuine Indigo and provides a wide range of tones—at its darkest it appears almost black! Both colors are fantastic for layering, glazing, and color mixing (a little bit goes a long way!) and are wonderfully opaque at full saturation. Genuine Indigo is derived from the Indigofera tinctoria plant through a fermentation process, and further refined to achieve greater saturation and intensity.

Genuine Indigo is extracted from the leaves of the Indigo plant (Indigofera Tinctoria) through a fermentation process. It's one of the oldest natural dyes used historically across India, China, and Japan for textiles and printing, and was the only source of the color until around 1900, when it was first formulated synthetically for commercial use.

Our ultimate blended brown! Cocoa is a careful mix of 6 (!!) of our core collection colors—the most out of all our blends, with Lime and Ruby in close second.
