Case for Making Blackcurrant Red Lake

A lake pigment that is lightfast and opaque and very smooth to paint with, Blackcurrant Red Lake is made from a French mineral pigment that is fixed to a natural Calcium Carbonate base which gives these specific lake pigments a soft, velvety and matte finish when dry. All of our watercolors handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine and distilled water. Half Pans contain around 2ml of paint and are approximately 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" deep.

A natural earth pigment that is lightfast and transparent with a fair amount of texture. Slate green is a natural stone chalk that has been ground down into a fine powder which we've found to have a lovely grittiness to it. A deep blue-y purple that holds all the rich tones of a lovely ripe plum! This color contains fluorescent pigment, which is not lightfast. Fading can be reduced by coating finished pieces in a UV protective varnish and/or keeping them out of direct sunlight.
