Use this fabric indoors or out. A briar is a prickly shrub and often the word brings to mind wild roses. Rebecca loves that these plants are tough, but also beautiful. They grow along the beach near her childhood home and have survived hurricanes and nor’easters to bloom the next year. The small crosses also remind her of the first seedlings popping through the dirt when herbs are planted in little pots. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

Like most, this pattern began in Rebecca’s sketchbook. She was playing around with a new small brush and admiring the line quality. She started painting arched shapes that were reminiscent of clouds, which she then explored as a larger painting. Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each of the colors contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints. Neutral green CAMELLIA LEAF is inspired by the flowers in Rebecca’s yard and all over Charleston, with their creamy pink petals, dark foliage, and yellow-green buds—even a hint of blue sky. A simple plaid, this design started as a meditative practice to begin a painting session. Rebecca used India Ink, overlaying the same wash of ink to create a basket-like weave. The subtle darkening that occurs when one long stripe crosses over the next was pleasing to watch. Reminiscent of fencing, it calls to mind the different structures we use to tame nature within a garden. The repetition and structure they provide feel settling. This fabric is intended for indoor use. For our first “solid” fabric, Rebecca wanted something that would be durable and a great basic, but that also made it easier to layer within a color palette—or even build one from. We rarely see flat colors in big swaths in nature. Our natural world is so complex. We see a field of grass, but it’s full of tonal variation and movement. She wanted to explore this concept in an upholstery fabric as if you covered your sofa in a natural landscape. This fabric is available as a pillow here .
