A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about landscape textures and how we need these textures in our homes to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.

Like most, this pattern began in Rebecca’s sketchbook. She was playing around with a new small brush and admiring the line quality. She started painting arched shapes that were reminiscent of clouds, which she then explored as a larger painting. Rebecca painted the original artwork while working on a series of ideas for florals and drew inspiration for this iteration from the pop of color wildflowers bring to a grassy field and the charm of city flowers that manage to bloom through a crack in the concrete. This unfurling botanical pattern has an air of formality that owes not just to its classical motif but also to its very special texture. Made using a heritage French weaving technique called Liser é , this fabric uses our artisan-dyed warp yarn for the ground and a combination of two mercerized cotton yarns and a slub rayon yarn for the raised vine design. The result is a fabric that looks embroidered but in fact comes off the loom with an intricate allover pattern. This fabric is available as a pillow here .
