They grow along the beach near her childhood home and have survived hurricanes and nor’easters to bloom the next year. This pattern was created from an original painting from Rebecca’s sketchbook, which like many of her designs, began as a mark-making exercise. Creating a motif from small dashes and dots is a simple practice that can start on the corner of a notebook during a meeting or a warm-up practice for a painting session. While mark-making is often an exercise Rebecca uses to center herself in the present moment, the results often become the seed of a new design. Like most, this pattern began in Rebecca’s sketchbook. She was playing around with a new small brush and admiring the line quality.
