This colorwork vest features an allover honeycomb pattern with bold vertical motifs placed at center front/back and sides; the low U-neck and hourglass shaping update this classic wardrobe staple. The vest is worked in the round and utilizes steeks at the armhole and neck openings. Upon completion of knitting, the steeks are cut; stitches are then picked up to work the bands. The ribbed trim (at armhole/neck opening and hem) is worked at a significantly denser gauge to create a firmer fabric and help maintain the shape of these areas. This vest is worked completely in the round from bottom up and shaped using steeks. After the completion of the body, armholes and neck steeks are cut, then stitches are picked up around each opening and trimmed with 1×1 ribbing using Trim Color. Brooklyn Tweed Hunter
Crisp, gansey-inspired texture animates the fabric of this handsome V-neck vest in Arbor. An all-over welted rib motif yields to rope cables and chevrons on the upper torso; wide purl gutters delineate the sides. The work begins in the round, then divides at the armholes for flat knitting to the shoulders. Single-rib tubular edge treatments, worked circularly after shoulder seaming, make a polished and professional finish. The pattern is written with slightly tapered or straight options for body shaping. Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Fall…

Brooklyn Tweed Redhook
Redhook is worked in one piece, back-and-forth in rows, from the bottom-up on circular needles. The deep shawl collar and ribbed cap-sleeves are shaped using short rows and are picked up and worked directly from the body of the vest. The long, tunic-like shape makes a great garment for fall layering and is a perfect medium-sized project for those yarns in your stash that are just short of a full-sweater’s-worth. Redhook is at once both chic and comforting — two wonderful attributes for any garment! Designer: Jared Flood Collection…

Brooklyn Tweed Etched
The Etched vest is an exercise in balance. Its undulating colorwork motif lingers between rippled sand and wire mesh, and a contemporary high-low hem is in equilibrium with a rustic fabric created by three colors of woolen-spun Loft . The construction of Etched, too, incorporates both colorwork knitting in the round for the front as well as flat knit stockinette for the back. Curious knitters will surely enjoy this harmonious tabard as both a process and product project. Designer: Gudrun Johnston Collection: Bridge City Share on social…

Brooklyn Tweed Huxley
I’m always charmed by the simple Norwegian “Lice” Pattern that adorns this vest – it’s both classic and sweet. This garment is worked in the round from bottom to top and, in the spirit of tradition, utilizes steeks (cutting) to open up the armholes and neck. Huxley knits up quickly and makes a great layering piece to add warmth and interest to your fall wardrobe. Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Fall…

Brooklyn Tweed Kirwin
Simple comfort elevated by carefully chosen details will make this poncho vest a practical favorite. With a split hem and a cartridge rib collar wide enough to wear comfortably over button-downs, Kirwin is gently flattering and easy to style. The fabric is textured with a diagonal seeded pattern that changes direction on the bias. The stitch motif is charted and the pieces are knit flat, with the neckband picked up and worked in the round after assembly. An exposed seam highlights the gracefully sloped short-row shoulders, and I-cord edges create a neat, minimalist finish.

Brooklyn Tweed Harlowe
Embrace the weekend in a slouchy V-neck that makes the most of Arbor’s superior stitch definition. Harlowe is built to drape and move, with a fluid fabric studded with purl stitches for subtle interest. The hems are knit separately from a tubular single-rib edge — longer in the back — and shaped with increases that subtly open deep side vents. Above the vents, the straight torso is worked in the round. Long, slim sleeves are also worked circularly from the cuff upward. An edging of gently curled stockinette is worked in strips and sewn on after shoulder seaming to stabilize the neckline.

Brooklyn Tweed Bronwyn
Traditional Aran elements get a contemporary lift from a vented hi-lo hem with double-deep ribbing at the back. Bronwyn is chock full of knitterly details: circular construction gives way to a seamed raglan yoke for added structure, tubular ribbing ensures durability and elasticity at the edges, and the cable motifs are thoughtfully aligned to help you memorize the pattern and avoid miscrosses. The fit is slightly oversized with a straight torso balanced by narrow sleeves; choose a size that will allow for movement over your hips.

Brooklyn Tweed Cypress
“When designing this vest I was interested in exploring a minimalist shape that would be flattering to the wearer. The sloping shoulder lines and gusseted armholes create a relaxed feel without added bulk. The body of the garment fits with just enough ease to flatter without requiring waist shaping. A classic allover texture pattern keeps the silhouette as the focus while allowing subtle details like the overlapping neckband and tubular cast ons/bind offs to shine.” – Jared Flood Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Sauvie
A simple vest in Loft adds a light layer of warmth and texture to your fall wardrobe. Worked in moss stitch with delicate welt details at the edges and shoulders, Sauvie features a shallow V-neck and a slightly cropped high-hip length, perfect for pulling over buttondowns. The vest is worked flat from the bottom up with increases to create a gentle angle that results in a small wing of “sleeve” fabric flaring from the shoulder for an interesting silhouette. We knit Sauvie in a versatile pale neutral (Fossil), but it’s equally handsome in a dark shade like Artifact or Pumpernickel.

Brooklyn Tweed Edge Hoodie
Véronik’s cool take on a classic hooded sweatshirt is packed with understated knitterly details. The garment, which is worked seamlessly, features a gracefully shaped garter stitch hem at the base of the body while the long sleeves tout clean, faced cuffs. Openwork detailing up the side“seams”of the body keep things interesting without sacrificing the clean overall look of the garment. A sweet triangular neck detail in reverse stockinette is worked at the base of the hood opening, which is trimmed with a clean doubled facing. In true Avery style, it’s a cool twist on an old favorite.

Brooklyn Tweed Stroopwafel Cardigan
"This quick-knitting cardigan makes the most of round, multi-ply yarns with smooth definition. The chunky gauge of the fabric turns up the volume on the many knitterly details stashed throughout the project. A simple allover garter rib pattern forms the basis for strong architectural shaping details, all of which are worked with decorative double-decreases that keep the rib pattern unbroken throughout and highlight unique design lines. The compound raglan yoke creates a comfortable fit through the shoulders and the easy-to-work stand-up collar creates a cozy finish.

Brooklyn Tweed Auden
“This design draws inspiration from both the new and old. I was intrigued by the modernity and drape of an oversized dolman tee, and I also loved the soft femininity of the simple, delicate prints of liberty cotton and vintage summer dresses. This pullover combines the two into the best of both worlds: a gentle, fern-like, allover cable motif joins with a loose and wonderfully drapey shape to create the perfect spring or summer sweater.” – Bristol Ivy Designer: Bristol Ivy Collection: Wool People, Volume…

Julie’s Turnagain cowl is a masterful study of color and pattern – featuring a double-sided fabric composed of two distinctly different (and equally appealing) striping patterns. This versatile piece allows for several styling options: display the bold, color-block-style of the first side or the rhythmic, narrow stripes of the other. Shift the position of the fold line and you can display a combination of both sides while wearing. With four different colorways included, and endless options for your own color creativity, here is a great opportunity for a truly one-of-a-kind accessory.

Brooklyn Tweed Leadlight
Inspired by patterns of sunlight through antique leaded windows, a branching geometric tracery radiates from a pinhole cast-on. The central square of this lace stole is worked circularly, with two sides extended working flat to form a large rectangle. A garter stitch edge finishes the perimeter. Brooklyn Tweed Collomia
The on-trend silhouette of the Collomia pullover offers a dramatic canvas for a timeless stranded colorwork yoke. The woolen-spun texture of Shelter yarn softens the bold stripes and ornate snowflake motifs. With seams only at the underarms and knit at a worsted gauge, Collomia is just as alluring to knit as it is to wear. Knit from the bottom up, the front and back of Collomia are cast on separately for the split hem, then joined knit circularly in one piece. The colorful yoke is worked in the round.

Brooklyn Tweed Autumn Leaves
This rectangular lace stole is worked in two separate halves. The first half is cast on at the outer edge and worked in towards the center. After the first half is complete, stitches are put on a holder and the second half is worked in the same manner as the first. After both halves have been completed, the live stitches from both sides are grafted together invisibly using Kitchener Stitch. This directional method is used so that lace motifs are vertically mirrored on both halves. Designer: Jared Flood Collection…

Brooklyn Tweed Tapestry
Wrap up in subtle colorwork reminiscent of fine needlepoint. This jacquard long cardigan in five shades of Loft features chevrons worked with purl stitches to interlock the colors and create intriguing texture. Tapestry is worked in the round with steeks, which are fully enclosed by the knit-on edging during finishing. The wrap-front torso is worked without shaping and is designed for lots of ease. Brooklyn Tweed Rook
“During the design process, my aim was to create a timeless garment containing both traditional and modern features. I chose a diamond motif with moss stitch that I saw in a fisherman’s sweater because not only is it a beautifully textured stitch, but I can also use it either as a single line of diamonds (as in the sleeve) or a line of multiple diamonds (as in the body). Instead of having a traditional vertical line of purl stitches on either side, I used stockinette stitch to encircle the motif to keep the whole design clean and simple. The sweater is knit top down.

Brooklyn Tweed Sparkwood
The colder the day, the denser the cable — keep warm and cozy through all your adventures with the touchable textures of Sparkwood. Thick blocks of honeycomb cables are punctuated by bands of single knot ropes, adding elasticity and interest to this fishermen's classic. Enjoy the lightness of woolen-spun Tones as it strikes the balance between dense insulation and weightless breathability, or opt for softness and bounce with Imbue Worsted . For added fun for your watchcap brim, play with Tones duotone shades or complementary hues of Imbue for a harmonious color pairing.

Brooklyn Tweed Sandness
“This shawl is worked using a modified version of a traditional Shetland construction. In this case stockinette stitch replaces the typical garter stitch used in the center triangle portion of the shawl. As with the traditional method, yarn overs are worked at the beginning of every row creating visual loops, which are then picked up to work the border. Sandness is intended as a bigger cousin companion to my Norby beanie as they share the same textured pattern.

Brooklyn Tweed Counterpane
For knitters who love a geometric puzzle, this study in modular asymmetry will keep the brain and the needles busy. Constructed in squares and triangles worked from the edges inward, Counterpane uses bands of stockinette, garter, and brioche to create three-dimensional texture as well as arresting diagonal lines. Each section is worked on stitches picked up from the previous square and newly cast on. The sleeve cuffs achieve a subtle bloused form by echoing the brioche and garter bands of the blocks.
