Like all of our lake pigment paints, French Rose Lake is made with a mineral pigment that is fixed to a natural calcium carbonate base—which gives it a soft, velvety, matte finish when dry. This deep rosy color is lightfast, semi-opaque and very smooth. All of our watercolors are non-toxic and handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine and distilled water. Half Pans contain around 2ml of paint and are approximately 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" deep.

This soft, violet-tinted synthetic pink is smooth, opaque, and lightfast. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness! Half Pans measure ~3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" and contain ~2ml of paint. Color Index number as provided by vendor: PV 15.77007. All of our watercolors conform to ASTM D-4236 .

A deep reddish-pink synthetic formulated to simulate the characteristics of the mineral pigment Vermilion, without the use of mercury. This lovely core color is highly opaque and smooth. True Vermilion is a brilliant red pigment with a rich history of use around the world, from Ancient Rome’s decorative arts, to illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, to lacquerware in China since the Song dynasty. Vermillion was even used as a cosmetic rouge in ancient West Asia.

Here in San Francisco, Oxalis seems to pop up from every available patch of soil in mid-February, and we wanted to celebrate this annual harbinger of spring!
