Case for Making CfM Lime

This lovely green is made of earth from the city Nicosia in Cyprus. It's light and transparent, with a slightly gritty texture. When Nicosia is fully saturated it resembles French Pale Green, though more transparent and textured. We've included a side by side image for comparison. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!

Our response to September 9th, 2020, when smoke and ash from a devastating fire season hovered above the Bay Area marine layer, blocking out the daylight. It’s made by fixing a manufactured French mineral pigment to a natural calcium carbonate base, which gives it a soft, velvety matte finish when dry. A metallic mica pigment that is lightfast and semi-opaque and very smooth to paint with. A natural earth pigment that is lightfast and opaque with slight texture. Umbers are brown or reddish-brown natural earth colors. This pigment consist of iron oxide and manganese oxide and in it's natural form is raw umber. After the pigment is heated, the color becomes darker and richer, transforming into burnt umber. 100% cotton, cold press watercolor paper with the lovely, soft texture of our dreams! Ideal for watercolor, gouache or inks, and wonderfully compatible with our favorite Nichiban masking tape or liquid frisket . When our manufacturer gauged our interest in colorful glued edges, we of course replied, "Well, how many colors can we have?!" We really didn't anticipate how cute they would turn out—and we're absolutely obsessed! The blocks are glue-bound on all four sides, so your paper stays flat while you paint and as your work dries.

Her large abstract paintings are full of hard and soft edges, moments where the paint pools and gathers and places where the paint makes crisp lines and angles. Her colors are bold and inspired by the full range of colors found in both Mexico and Texas. With watercolors, we will play with some of Dorothy’s shapes by creating hard edges with tape, letting the watercolors be soft and blend, and create dynamic shapes with layered colors.

CfM Oxalis captures the cheery yellow of the California wildflower also known as Woodsorrel, which Bay Area locals might remember from childhood as Sourgrass.
