Rebecca wanted to design something soft and textural as if she had just slowly moved her brush up and down in small repetitive marks along a wall or across a piece of fabric—which is in fact how she painted this pattern but on a piece of paper. The soft texture created by a brush with only a bit of paint left on it creates a cozy soothing feeling, almost like white noise. Use this pattern like you would a woven texture. It’s soft and easy to mix with other patterns.

Rebecca painted the original artwork for this pattern to test some colors she had mixed. She loved how this stripe turned out, and it reminded her how a thin stripe can be so easy to layer with anything. Stripes are also a great way to bring in color, whether tonal shades of green like the original she painted or a multi-colored palette.
