Concentric Squares is our painterly take on a modern geometric print, with pooling watercolors and soft, rounded corners that look and feel cheerful. It started out as a color study Rebecca was using to try out new palettes. As a result, the combinations look fresh and layer beautifully with many of our patterns. Like most, this pattern began in Rebecca’s sketchbook. She was playing around with a new small brush and admiring the line quality. She started painting arched shapes that were reminiscent of clouds, which she then explored as a larger painting. We love that patterns can become the backdrop to our lives and help us create an environment. Inspired by the sky, this textural pattern will add atmosphere to a room.

This pattern was inspired by a picture Rebecca snapped of long grass while visiting Portland, Oregon. Travel heightens awareness of your surroundings and invites discovery. Rebecca remembers these long grasses leaning against one another, layering to create a rich texture. She started making a large painting and watched how the shapes connected and overlapped, and how the color could intertwine to create atmosphere. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric, but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about the landscape textures and how we need these textures in our home to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.
