We love a stripe. You can’t go wrong adding one to a space, and they can be a great way to tie together a color palette. Rebecca painted the original artwork for this pattern to test some colors she had mixed. She loved how this stripe turned out, and it reminded her how a thin stripe can be so easy to layer with anything. Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each color contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints. Dusky browns, navies, and greens lay the foundation for FOREST PURPLE. When she began to play with this linear shape for a woven, she explored how it could capture the way a breeze ripples through the spring air. By repeating this simple mark in varying darkness, she creates a pattern with movement. Some marks sink back into the ground of the cloth, where others pop against the background.

A simple plaid, this design started as a meditative practice to begin a painting session. Rebecca used India Ink, overlaying the same wash of ink to create a basket-like weave. The subtle darkening that occurs when one long stripe crosses over the next was pleasing to watch. Reminiscent of fencing, it calls to mind the different structures we use to tame nature within a garden. The repetition and structure they provide feel settling. A small vintage fabric cutting Rebecca found in Tokyo, Japan inspired this fabric. It was a small-scale print that read geometric but also like a floral. She loved this idea for a textural woven and redrew the motif, adding the softness of her hand and increasing the size so that it would translate well as a woven. She thought a lot about landscape textures and how we need these textures in our homes to create the environment that feels best to us. Use this fabric to cover a sofa in a field of flowers, but viewed at a distance for a soft and easy vibe.

Designed to coordinate with our Bubbles mural to continue the pattern onto a ceiling, this subtle print looks equally lovely on its own.
