Wow-o-wow, we adore this vibrant, fun color so much at the shop! In our often foggy Sunset neighborhood, it’s an instant lift to spot a house bedecked with stunning pink and purple fuchsia plants. The deep, bright tones in this blend lend that same subtle dimension and richness of color we love to see on a gray day, right here in our palettes! This color contains fluorescent pigment, which is not lightfast. Fading can be reduced by coating finished pieces in a UV protective varnish and/or keeping them out of direct sunlight.

Case for Making Blue Ridge Violet Hematite
A cool, deep purple-brown natural earth pigment with high opacity, lightfastness, and a very consistent and smooth texture with a matte finish. At its most opaque, it's just slightly metallic, thanks to its high concentration of hematite. The pigments we use to make these colors are specific to Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountain range. Natural earth pigments have been mined from this region since the mid-1800's, and we think these colors are still unrivaled in intensity and richness.

True Vermilion is a brilliant red pigment with a rich history of use around the world, from Ancient Rome’s decorative arts, to illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, to lacquerware in China since the Song dynasty. Vermillion was even used as a cosmetic rouge in ancient West Asia.
