When mixing a batch of CfM Riverbed — a rich mix of earth pigments inspired by Heidi Gustafson's Book of Earth —we went a little (a lot) heavy on the Blue Ridge Red Hematite . The upside: a new fave color, and cute punny name, in our lineup! CfM Ultra-Blends are custom colors with endless possibilities! Use them with just a bit of water for full, even saturation, or add more water (and a bit more!), let it all pool and dry undisturbed on your paper, and discover worlds upon magical worlds as the colors separate and settle out!

Their curious, playful natures are fascinating, and their graceful movements are full of joy. Observing them swimming in the San Francisco Bay inspired me to loosen my approach to painting and respond more intuitively to the natural world. Seconds quality means there are some deeper cracks in the paint, and the pans might be filled slightly low—or maybe a bit too high! These variations do not affect the integrity of the paint. The Art Toolkit Pocket Palette can fit up to 24 mini pans; the Demi Palette can fit up to 12. Mop brushes are naturally fluffy and soft—wonderful for creating light washes or calligraphy script. The bristles puff out a bit, which lends toward beautifully varied brush strokes. They're also handy for lifting a good amount of water when making premixtures!
