This luxurious throw is written for sizes to cover every member of the family – the smallest size is perfect for babies, while the largest size makes a beautiful bed-top coverlet. Be sure to follow the set of numbers within the parentheses that correspond to the size you will be knitting. The size of the finished throw can be adjusted further based on the number of repeats worked. To increase or decrease the finished width of your blanket, add or subtract sets of 18 stitches to/from your original cast-on number for working extra repeats of the Hourglass Lace bracketed motif.

Brooklyn Tweed Lunette
Lace butterflies skirt this shawl and sweep up the center in a merry flock. The knitting begins with a large cast-on for the full length of the trailing edge. A line of eyelets creates an effect reminiscent of crochet. The scalloped edge motifs soften the triangular inner forms into an organic deep crescent that naturally wraps your shoulders and hangs prettily in place without the aid of a pin. This is piquant lace knitting, with no “resting rows” between lace maneuvers in many of the charts. Directions are given for four sizes; the two smallest can be worked from a single skein of Plains.

Brooklyn Tweed Bairn
Cast on a beautiful cabled heirloom. Bairn is given in two versions: a large nap blanket knit in Shelter that will serve a child as he grows or make a handsome throw in the living room, and a smaller baby blanket worked in Loft to tuck into a pram or use as a stylish nursing cover. The twining serpentines of the central motif and the echoing cables are easy to track and memorize once they’re established, making this a soothing, contemplative knit. Lightweight and warm in either size, Bairn will remain a family favorite after the little ones are grown. Designer: Julie Hoover Collection: Kids…

Brooklyn Tweed Juneberry
Snuggle down in a warm woolen triangle of botanical lace. Juneberry can be worked in DK-weight Arbor to yield a wingspan of 44½” or in worsted weight Shelter for a 61″ shawl. The knitting begins with a provisional cast-on of a few stitches at the center top; increases at the center spine and edges form the triangle shape. In the traditional Shetland style, a wide knitted-on edging unites with the live stitches at the perimeter for an elastic and seamless finish. Juneberry is worked from charted instructions, some of which require lace maneuvers on both sides of the work.

Brooklyn Tweed Wheaten
“A cozy rectangle to knit in two yarn weights (fingering or worsted) and four sizes (scarf/wrap/small throw/large throw). Twining lines in a rich brocade motif add an organic element that relieves the pattern’s formal structure and translates beautifully in both jewel tones and pale shades from nature. Ribbed hems provide a classic, neat finish to the edges.”− Anne Hanson Designer: Anne Hanson Collection: Wool People, Volume…

Brooklyn Tweed Tetrapods
This tessellating motif is true knitted lace: the striking geometric pattern is worked on right-side and wrong-side rows. Knit in Loft, this shawl is light as sea foam. Directions are given in both charted and written form for three widths, from a scarf to a large shawl. All versions measure six feet in length, so you can easily wrap your Tetrapods about your neck and shoulders or leave the ends loose for an elegant drape. Brooklyn Tweed Furrow Cowl
Curl up in this plush, oversized cowl on chilly days. Furrow’s simple stitches make for easy knitting, and a gentle bell shape — achieved by decreases within the moss stitch segments — makes styling effortless. Knit to 18″ tall, the cowl drapes and folds elegantly, but it can be shortened if you prefer less volume or wish to use a smaller amount of yarn. Pair it with Furrow Hat for a matched set of accessories. This pattern was published as part of Jared Flood’s first print book, WOOLENS. Brooklyn Tweed Umaro
The Umaro blanket combines a little bit of everything — cables, lace, and knit-purl patterns — to create a veritable symphony of texture that is every bit as soothing to knit as it is inviting to curl up under. Yarnovers and directional decreases grow into and out of staggered cables to form an allover pattern of intricate diamonds, while seed stitch around the blanket and within the geometric motifs serves as a soft and pebbly contrast.

Brooklyn Tweed Maki
The subtle simplicity of Maki calls for a closer look, which reveals that there is more to this design than meets the eye. The flattering A-line silhouette is accented by rows of welts on the back yoke for satisfying texture that also peeks out and around to the front of the shoulders, like angular epaulettes. The rolled neckline, garter stitch trims, and notched vents at the hems serve as balancing counterpoints that echo the framing of the back yoke. Wear Maki as a year-round layering piece with beguiling elegance.

Brooklyn Tweed Shapeshift
" The Shapeshift Cardigan takes a traditional top-down raglan structure and turns it on its head to create something both familiar and unexpected. By shifting half of the raglan increases to the top of the shoulder, graphic diagonal lines are formed along the sleeve. This bold architectural shaping produces an eye-catching twist on the classic cardigan. Squishy brioche stitch gets its volume turned up when worked in chunky-weight Arbor Lodge or Quarry . The strong geometric lines of this favorite stitch pattern highlight the garment’s unique shaping.

Brooklyn Tweed Stroopwafel Cardigan
"This quick-knitting cardigan makes the most of round, multi-ply yarns with smooth definition. The chunky gauge of the fabric turns up the volume on the many knitterly details stashed throughout the project. A simple allover garter rib pattern forms the basis for strong architectural shaping details, all of which are worked with decorative double-decreases that keep the rib pattern unbroken throughout and highlight unique design lines. The compound raglan yoke creates a comfortable fit through the shoulders and the easy-to-work stand-up collar creates a cozy finish.

Brooklyn Tweed Quincy
This unique hat, made with a mobius twist, is deceptively simple to knit. The main portion of Quincy is worked as a flat strip of garter stitch, knit back-and-forth with built-in I-cord on both sides. When this piece reaches sufficient length, the fabric is given a half-twist and the ends are then grafted together using kitchener stitch. You will now have a mobius strip from which you will pick up crown stitches. Crown shaping is worked traditionally, in the round, from this point onward to close the top.
