This woven quality reminds Rebecca of needlepoint. Her great-aunt Libby was an avid needle-pointer and growing up, she had needlepoint seat cushions at her dining table, and little framed pieces hanging on the wall. Designed to coordinate with our Bubbles mural to continue the pattern onto a ceiling, this subtle print looks equally lovely on its own. It calls to mind fading seafoam or falling grains of sand, but without the larger mural for context it can also read as floating specks of dust, snow flurries, or tiny drops of beaded rain, all softly illuminated and suspended in motion. Like our Petals pattern, it’s enveloping in a gentle way, and it’s ideal for a quiet, calm environment.

Use this fabric indoors or out. Throughout the years, Rebecca has explored long curved shapes in various ways and frequently doodled them in the corners of her notebooks. When she began to play with this linear shape for a woven, she explored how it could capture the way a breeze ripples through the spring air. By repeating this simple mark in varying darkness, she creates a pattern with movement. Some marks sink back into the ground of the cloth, where others pop against the background.

This crisp midweight upholstery fabric can create a range of moods depending on the color you choose—from cool ones that give a space a light, breezy feeling to grounded ones that bring warmth. Rebecca wanted each one to look sunwashed. PALE GOLDENROD has a little ochre in it that makes it stronger than a butter yellow, but it’s faded and softer than our other goldenrods and as versatile as natural linen.
