This pattern was created from an original painting from Rebecca’s sketchbook, which like many of her designs, began as a mark-making exercise. Creating a motif from small dashes and dots is a simple practice that can start on the corner of a notebook during a meeting or a warm-up practice for a painting session. While mark-making is often an exercise Rebecca uses to center herself in the present moment, the results often become the seed of a new design. The radiating lines of this deconstructed floral shape feel celebratory and are sure to bring joy to any space.

Rebecca pushed her brush onto the paper repetitively in different colors to create this field of blooms. After creating the original artwork, she enlarged the scale to add playfulness. For a more abstract layout, use this pattern on smaller pieces, like a pillow, or embrace the garden experience and use it on patio furniture or a kitchen banquette.
