"In a favorite knitting book written by Norwegian textile designer Annemor Sundbo, she traces the first records of traditional knitted motifs of Norway. And one of the very first is a small square, called Iceland. I love how clean and modern this little pattern is, and I love it paired with clean one-round stripes and, of course, an oversize pom-pom." …

Quince & Co fox island
Inspired by Pam Allen's Highmoor Bag from our Sparrow Sans collection in 2014, Fox Island is worked with one strand of Kestrel , and the multicolored stripes give us an opportunity to play with color! Two garter stitch panels are worked flat, then stitches are picked up on three sides of each square for the base, with more cast on for a strap. These two pieces are then joined with a three-needle bind off to complete the bag. Go to Linen Remix 2020…

Pam Allen willow
Willow adds the satisfaction of classic gansey knitting to the simple, oversized shape of this pullover. The cuffs and hem are in a broken rib, keeping the sleeves and body from pulling in. An abbreviated version of the gansey motifs is worked into the sleeves at the shoulders. Worked from the bottom up, there's a great mix of meditative knitting and subtle challenge in this soft, ultra-cozy piece. This pattern is also available as part of the Plain & Simple collection.

Stone Wool alice
This pattern is available for FREE with any purchase of Stone Wool Border Leicester . Alice is a squishy-soft, generously sized crescent shawl, knitted in yarn spun from Border Leicester, a lustrous, soft and silky fiber. Worked mostly in humble garter stitch, it makes a buoyant, inviting shawl for wrapping up in. The border’s lace pattern requires working the pattern on every row, not just right-side rows. But take heart: There aren’t so many stitches in the border panel and the knitting steps are predictable.

Hanna Maciejewska parti
Hanna’s asymmetrical Parti shawl is our new favorite for chilly fall mornings. Knitted in soft and tweedy Wren , Parti is worked sideways, beginning at one tip and increasing to the wide left edge, culminating in a luxurious swath of bobbles and lace. We love the way Parti's lace panel adds just the right amount of light and airiness to this cozy, textured shawl. This pattern is also part of the 11 piece collection, Atelier .

Pam Allen clemons
The inception of designer Pam Allen's The Wren Collection, started with the Clemons pants. Holding two strands of DK weight Wren together, the pants have structure and yet are irresistibly soft and bouncy. The pants are worked in one piece in the round from the waist to the base of the crotch, then the stitches are divided for working the legs separately in the round to the lower edges. The pant legs are shown in a slightly cropped, above-the-ankle length, but leg length is adjustable. We personally love the cropped length as it showcases the unique raw-edged hem.

Norah Gaughan cella
This pretty origami-like piece is an excellent example of how versatile the humble rectangle can be. Worked in alternating bands of fingering-weight Sparrow and worsted-weight Kestrel, the fabric is stretchy and pliable, held in check by Cella’s cleverly applied ribbing. Short rows are used to shape the ribbed border, and Framework includes an illustrated step-by-step process for the yarn-over short row method. Go to Framework…
