We love a stripe. You can’t go wrong adding one to a space, and they can be a great way to tie together a color palette. Rebecca painted the original artwork for this pattern to test some colors she had mixed. She loved how this stripe turned out, and it reminded her how a thin stripe can be so easy to layer with anything. This woven quality reminds Rebecca of needlepoint. Her great-aunt Libby was an avid needle-pointer and growing up, she had needlepoint seat cushions at her dining table, and little framed pieces hanging on the wall. Rebecca wanted to explore something graphic because the weave is so textural. She looked to small, geometric, vintage patterns – like the ones you’d find on the inside of a book cover. Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each of the colors contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints. Neutral green CAMELLIA LEAF is inspired by the flowers in Rebecca’s yard and all over Charleston, with their creamy pink petals, dark foliage, and yellow-green buds—even a hint of blue sky. Rebecca has been reflecting on the concepts of fields and hills. Looking out at the horizon, a landscape, or a panoramic view can be comforting. Round shapes are playful and evoke happiness, which is a feeling she always wants at home. She wanted to create something with round shapes, while also referencing the textures of grass, and the result was this pattern. It has movement to it and is airy and textural. This pattern will look great as drapery or on a larger piece of furniture. This fabric is a part of our Archive Collection.
