Rebecca Atwood Designs Sun and Moon Pillow in Blush / Gray

This design began as a painting in Rebecca’s sketchbook while visiting Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Inspired by the sun and moon ceramics hanging on the door of the hotel, Rebecca created her own interpretation of this celestial concept. The fabric was woven in India, the sun motif was hand-screen printed, and finally the moon motifs were embroidered. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

She started painting arched shapes that were reminiscent of clouds, which she then explored as a larger painting. This pattern began as a large painting. Rebecca experimented with a resist technique and dotted each larger circle with smaller marks. The resulting motifs referenced radial patterns found in the natural world, from flowers to sand dollars, as well as the passage of time. With several individual colors to match within it, this multi-colored design works well as the start of a scheme or as a bridge to tie colors in your existing scheme together.
