This woven quality reminds Rebecca of needlepoint. Her great-aunt Libby was an avid needle-pointer and growing up, she had needlepoint seat cushions at her dining table, and little framed pieces hanging on the wall. Rebecca wanted to explore something graphic because the weave is so textural. She looked to small, geometric, vintage patterns – like the ones you’d find on the inside of a book cover. Like most, this pattern began in Rebecca’s sketchbook. She was playing around with a new small brush and admiring the line quality. She started painting arched shapes that were reminiscent of clouds, which she then explored as a larger painting. We love that patterns can become the backdrop to our lives and help us create an environment. Inspired by the sky, this textural pattern will add atmosphere to a room. Carefree blossoms hover as if on a breeze in this offset geometric design. We love how the trellis of dotted lines on which they grow also resembles the path of a meandering walk. The overall effect is an easygoing spring feeling that’s perpetually in bloom.

This fabric is intended for indoor use. For our first “solid” fabric, Rebecca wanted something that would be durable and a great basic, but that also made it easier to layer within a color palette—or even build one from. We rarely see flat colors in big swaths in nature. Our natural world is so complex. We see a field of grass, but it’s full of tonal variation and movement. She wanted to explore this concept in an upholstery fabric as if you covered your sofa in a natural landscape. This fabric is available as a pillow here .

Thickets of berry bushes inspired the name for this indoor upholstery-weight fabric. Woven from a soft, nubby cotton-wool blend, each of the colors contains all the pigments Rebecca would use if she were mixing it with her paints. Neutral green CAMELLIA LEAF is inspired by the flowers in Rebecca’s yard and all over Charleston, with their creamy pink petals, dark foliage, and yellow-green buds—even a hint of blue sky. Designed to coordinate with our Bubbles mural to continue the pattern onto a ceiling, this subtle print looks equally lovely on its own. It calls to mind fading seafoam or falling grains of sand, but without the larger mural for context it can also read as floating specks of dust, snow flurries, or tiny drops of beaded rain, all softly illuminated and suspended in motion. Like our Petals pattern, it’s enveloping in a gentle way, and it’s ideal for a quiet, calm environment.

A simple plaid, this design started as a meditative practice to begin a painting session. Rebecca used India Ink, overlaying the same wash of ink to create a basket-like weave. The subtle darkening that occurs when one long stripe crosses over the next was pleasing to watch. Reminiscent of fencing, it calls to mind the different structures we use to tame nature within a garden. The repetition and structure they provide feel settling.
