Bursts of nature always bring happiness. Small daisies seem to be very resilient flowers that thrive in surprising places. Rebecca often notices them popping out of a crack in the sidewalk or a field by the side of the road. They’re common and unassuming, but cheery. We loved the idea of something small scale that would read texturally from across a room, but offer the same unexpected joy of spotting daisies when viewed up close. This pattern was created from an original painting from Rebecca’s sketchbook, which like many of her designs, began as a mark-making exercise. Creating a motif from small dashes and dots is a simple practice that can start on the corner of a notebook during a meeting or a warm-up practice for a painting session. While mark-making is often an exercise Rebecca uses to center herself in the present moment, the results often become the seed of a new design. The radiating lines of this deconstructed floral shape feel celebratory and are sure to bring joy to any space.
