Throughout the years, Rebecca has explored long curved shapes in various ways and frequently doodled them in the corners of her notebooks. When she began playing with this linear shape for a woven, she explored how it could capture how a breeze ripples through the spring air. She creates a pattern with movement by repeating this simple mark in varying darkness. Some marks sink back into the ground of the cloth, whereas others pop against the background. We love the contrast in this concept: the result is graphic but evokes the idea of something we can’t see.

Rebecca has been reflecting on the concepts of fields and hills. Looking out at the horizon, a landscape, or a panoramic view can be comforting. This fabric is intended for indoor use. For our first “solid” fabric, Rebecca wanted something that would be durable and a great basic, but that also made it easier to layer within a color palette—or even build one from. We rarely see flat colors in big swaths in nature. Our natural world is so complex. We see a field of grass, but it’s full of tonal variation and movement. She wanted to explore this concept in an upholstery fabric as if you covered your sofa in a natural landscape. This fabric is available as a pillow here .
