Brooklyn Tweed Weft Hat
Perfect for round, springy yarns with exceptional stitch definition, this hat’s clever stitch pattern mimics woven basketry through the creative use of knits, purls, and yarn overs. This is one of those stitch patterns that gives dramatic results despite using only the most basic of knitting stitches! The deeply textured fabric is balanced with a doubled-ribbed brim that adds squishy comfort and a substantial base for the woven textures that grow from it.

Brooklyn Tweed Kitelines
" This sweet hat pattern features a delicate, geometric stitch worked in two colors that reminds me of little kites. The small bi-color diamonds are formed using a unique ‘dip’ stitch maneuver that creates a subtly textured fabric with tiny eyelets that keep the fabric breathable and light. The hat can be worked in child or adult size, and styled as a standard beanie or blocked over a round form (like a salad plate) for a beret variation. The star-shaped crown design integrates seamlessly into the Kitelines stitch pattern for a sophisticated finish, regardless of your chosen variation.

Brooklyn Tweed Favo
" I “unvented” this stitch pattern after becoming curious about different ways to create a honeycomb or lattice effect in brioche. The resulting fabric is cushy and intriguingly dimensional in plush Imbue Worsted, making for a cozy but polished beanie or watchcap sized for the whole family. Choose a Color 2 that’s darker than your Color 1 to ensure the honeycomb effect shown here, or go with lower contrast or a lighter Color 2 for a softer look. This stitch pattern is also ripe for colorplay by changing up your Color 2 throughout the hat!

Brooklyn Tweed Cleridae
For casual weekend errands, throw on this organically cabled hat that recalls patches of sky glimpsed from the forest floor. Sturdy cabled trunks interspersed among the ribs of the brim branch into more delicate interlacing motifs on a ground of reverse stockinette. The ribbed crown finishes with a jaunty pompom, if you so desire. Try it in your favorite bright accent color from the Shelter palette or choose a wear-with-everything neutral like Fossil or Snowbound. Brooklyn Tweed Adara
“Stranded colorwork always seems so appropriate for the Winter season to me. The patterns created by the two colors are so festive, brightening up those late winter days that can be so dreary. The floats on the underside create an incredibly warm fabric making this turtleneck the perfect sweater for those sub-zero temperatures!” − Michele Wang Designer: Michele Wang Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Rook
“During the design process, my aim was to create a timeless garment containing both traditional and modern features. I chose a diamond motif with moss stitch that I saw in a fisherman’s sweater because not only is it a beautifully textured stitch, but I can also use it either as a single line of diamonds (as in the sleeve) or a line of multiple diamonds (as in the body). Instead of having a traditional vertical line of purl stitches on either side, I used stockinette stitch to encircle the motif to keep the whole design clean and simple. The sweater is knit top down.

Brooklyn Tweed Trestle
“I love chevrons! I cannot get enough. I particularly love how they distort a seemingly straightforward row of knitting into spectacular peaks and valleys. Pair a chevron with the humble stripe and boom! My knitter’s heart beats a little faster. Taking into account that chevrons don’t make a rectangular shape on their own, I have helped them out by filling in the corners. This creates a few extra pieces to knit to make a shape that resembles a sweater, but the end result is a garment that is interesting to knit. Interesting to knit while being all knit!

Brooklyn Tweed Lolo
Architectural lines and innovative construction elevate an aviator cap you can knit with a single skein of Shelter. Lolo is worked sideways from a provisional cast-on; crown shaping is achieved with short rows while increases and decreases form a sinuous brim that covers the ears. Lines of slipped stitches flow across the garter background to accentuate the shaping and create sculptural shifts in texture. This unisex hat can be knit in multiple sizes by changing needle size and gauge; directions are given for 18” and 20” circumferences.

Brooklyn Tweed Mason
A snuggly cowl with simple but striking stitchwork makes the perfect deep winter accessory. Tailor Mason to your climate by selecting a double-stranded version for serious warmth or working with a single strand for a cowl appropriate to milder weather. Both Masons use ridges of a contrast color interrupted by slipped stitches for a woven effect that’s eye catching but simple to execute. A funnel shape improves the fit, and single-rib tubular edges provide an elastic and professional finish. Designer: Julie Hoover Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Douro
Light and lofty brioche stitch makes the ideal wrap or lap blanket. Douro explores the possibilities of traveling lines in brioche, wandering from symmetry to asymmetry and back to regular ribs. The two halves culminate in a band of garter stitch fused at the center spine with the Joinery Bind-Off. Worked from written instructions, this pattern is a good way to step up from basic brioche knitting. Designer: Norah Gaughan Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Trillium
“One of the magical things about hand knitting is the formation of the fabric at the same time as the creation of the piece. And because of this, the seamless yoked cardigan is something of a magic trick. A long-time favorite among knitters, I wanted to give this traditional silhouette a modern twist with an updated ribbing, but keep some tradition by using nupps. I hope this finds its way into your Fall wardrobe.” – Michele Wang Designer: Michele Wang Collection: Fall…

Brooklyn Tweed Autumn Leaves
This rectangular lace stole is worked in two separate halves. The first half is cast on at the outer edge and worked in towards the center. After the first half is complete, stitches are put on a holder and the second half is worked in the same manner as the first. After both halves have been completed, the live stitches from both sides are grafted together invisibly using Kitchener Stitch. This directional method is used so that lace motifs are vertically mirrored on both halves. Designer: Jared Flood Collection…

Brooklyn Tweed Sandness
“This shawl is worked using a modified version of a traditional Shetland construction. In this case stockinette stitch replaces the typical garter stitch used in the center triangle portion of the shawl. As with the traditional method, yarn overs are worked at the beginning of every row creating visual loops, which are then picked up to work the border. Sandness is intended as a bigger cousin companion to my Norby beanie as they share the same textured pattern.
