Balsam is a snuggly, hooded cowl, with a deep brioche split hem to achieve more coverage than can your average neckwear. Two brioche panels are worked flat and joined in the round for a cowl deep enough for stretching over your head. A few short rows near the top of the cowl form the shape of the hood. This pattern is also available as part of the Plain & Simple collection.

Pam Allen maple
We love Maple—it's semi-cropped in the body, it features a cushy brioche collar that hugs the neck, and fitted sleeves and a narrow back neck for a close fit where it counts. The best part of the knitting here is in working two stitch patterns with varying row gauges (brioche and stockinette) at the same time, balanced out by strategically-placed short rows in the trim. This pattern is also available as part of the Plain & Simple collection.

Quince & Co. cera alba
Designer and friend, Jordan Prouty, presents Cera Alba. In our opinion, it might just be the perfect piece for this time of year: warm and cozy when you need it, yet light and adaptable enough to wear throughout the day. Knit entirely in the round, the cowl features a bold cable panel at both the center front and back, framed by wide ribbed sections along the sides. The flexible ribbing allows the cowl to be worn snugly around the neck like a traditional cowl or gently draped over the shoulders for an extra layer of warmth.

Pam Allen birch
Luxuriously oversized, with a deep, cozy, round yoke, Birch is classic colorwork and comfort knitting at its best. Plus, this pullover is a cool hybrid of bottom-up and top-down knitting: The body is knitted from the bottom up, with stitches cast on provisionally for the sleeves, all the way to the neck, and the sleeves are picked up from the waste yarn and knitted down to the cuffs. This pattern is also available as part of the Plain & Simple collection.

Pam Allen walnut
Walnut is such a classic cardigan—crew neck, buttons, pockets, long sleeves. And yet, Pam has added just a few details that update the garment to current tastes in knitting and wearing: We love the reverse stockinette stitch in the body, the deep half-brioche split hem with deeper length at the back, the exposed seam along the shoulders, and the modified dolman/drop shoulder construction found throughout the collection that provides an easy fit. Perfection! This pattern is also available as part of the Plain & Simple collection.

Pam Allen clemons
The inception of designer Pam Allen's The Wren Collection, started with the Clemons pants. Holding two strands of DK weight Wren together, the pants have structure and yet are irresistibly soft and bouncy. The pants are worked in one piece in the round from the waist to the base of the crotch, then the stitches are divided for working the legs separately in the round to the lower edges. The pant legs are shown in a slightly cropped, above-the-ankle length, but leg length is adjustable. We personally love the cropped length as it showcases the unique raw-edged hem.

A trip to an iconic Fifth Ave, New York menswear shop brought about an idea for a classic rib beanie worked in luxurious, semi-bulky, yet lightweight Osprey yarn. Adding one (or two) stitches in the wide rib all around can change the style back to a man's hat (where you borrowed it from his shelf in the first place).
