"Garter stripes and slipped stitches let filtered chinks of light shine through the fabric of this modern scarf/wrap. Alternating between lush Tern and laceweight Piper, the resulting accessory shows off the minimalist interplay of luminosity and shadow. The fingering weight yarn acts as a frame, lending structure to the haloed bands of lighter yarn. The architectural lines and plain edges strip away distractions for a raw, industrial feel." …

Quince & Co. drydwen wrap
Our Fall 2024 Quince Quarterly designer, Frances Othen-Wales, introduces the Drydwen Wrap . Knit in our warm and rustic wool/alpaca blend, Owl, Drydwen is worked sideways in one piece—beginning at one tip with a beautifully sculpted cabled border. From there, the pattern flows into a sleek stockinette body, worked straight before tapering back to a point with carefully placed decreases. "This wrap marries brioche stitch and simple lace in a design that came together as I was foraging in the local hedgerows for natural dye materials. The scrim of twiglets became a mesh of simple lace with clusters of bundled stitches, and branching lines of brioche flow through the wrap from one end to the other." - designer, Sarah Pope. Are you a Quince Quarterly subscriber? If so, this pattern was in your Spring 2022 box. "The ruana is one of the simplest of worn structures: a long rectangle split a little more than halfway through its length. This allows for peaceful, almost meditative knitting, and for a relaxing finished piece that can be worn as an open cardigan or shawl-like wrap. Soft and versatile Finch takes to this open, lacy gauge with ease and provides more than enough yardage to see you through your journey." …

Brooklyn Tweed Scalene
“I wanted to design a minimalist blanket shawl without superfluous details — useful all the year long, a sort of cozy envelope. The wrap you like to have always nearby, perfect for rainy afternoons on the couch or cool evenings outside. I added a subtle feminine touch by working a lace motif along two edges.” – Nadia Crétin-Léchenne On rainy days, reach for a comforting blanket shawl worked in rustic, homey garter stitch. Nadia’s eye for modern geometry and minimal adornment gives this design a lift without sacrificing the unfussy practicality of the humble garter triangle.

Quince & Co. dust jacket kit
The history of the dust jacket can be traced back to the mid-19th century as a means to shield books from dust and wear. As the 19th century progressed, publishers began to recognize the potential of the outer book cover as a promotional tool. For two more centuries, the dust jacket would continue to evolve and remains one of the most collectible assets of a book. The Dust Jacket Kit pays homage to its humble beginnings. The jacket body is worked in our sweet Chickadee using the linen stitch. The piece can be customized to fit your most treasured literary masterpiece.

Pam Allen clemons
The inception of designer Pam Allen's The Wren Collection, started with the Clemons pants. Holding two strands of DK weight Wren together, the pants have structure and yet are irresistibly soft and bouncy. The pants are worked in one piece in the round from the waist to the base of the crotch, then the stitches are divided for working the legs separately in the round to the lower edges. The pant legs are shown in a slightly cropped, above-the-ankle length, but leg length is adjustable. We personally love the cropped length as it showcases the unique raw-edged hem.
