“This shawl is easy to knit with a simple lace pattern. I called the shawl “Frida”, because the geometrical patterns and the loop fringes give a folk atmosphere, and using the deep red color of Homemade Jam remind me of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The shawl – knitted with fingering weight Loft – is very lightweight and compact; you can wear it casually and it is easy to carry around.” − Hiroko Fukatsu Designer: Hiroko Fukatsu Collection: Wool People, Volume…

The stitch patterns incorporated in this design allow the fabric to be decorative, without being overly lacey. Here yarn and pattern combine to create a warm accessory that is both beautiful and functional. Designer: Leila Raven Collection: Loft…

Brooklyn Tweed Flying Squirrel
“I designed this stole for someone who likes casual and playful design. Cuffs have been added to a knitted rectangle shawl. It sounds simple, but the rectangle’s balance is important. It looks like a cardigan when you put your hands through the cuffs. Then, you open your arms, and you look like a flying squirrel. You can also wear it around your neck as a big stole.”− Michiyo Designer: Michiyo Collection: Wool People, Volume…

This simple lace shrug makes a great layer for spring and summer. Wear it casually with jeans and a top or dressed up over a sun dress with ballet flats. The garment’s minimalist shape makes for smooth, enjoyable knitting. Garter stitch cuffs are used to finish the three-quarter sleeves. Designer: Yoko Hatta Collection: Wool People, Volume…

Brooklyn Tweed Wheaten
“A cozy rectangle to knit in two yarn weights (fingering or worsted) and four sizes (scarf/wrap/small throw/large throw). Twining lines in a rich brocade motif add an organic element that relieves the pattern’s formal structure and translates beautifully in both jewel tones and pale shades from nature. Ribbed hems provide a classic, neat finish to the edges.”− Anne Hanson Designer: Anne Hanson Collection: Wool People, Volume…

A tactile melange of worsted-spun Arbor and woolen-spun Loft, the Tallera scarf is delightfully springy and tremendously touchable. Wide bands of compressible garter stitch are punctuated by angular accents of half Fisherman’s Rib — all constructed through simple short rows. Whether wrapped double around the neck for a tucked-in cowl look or worn long as a scarf, Loft ’s natural airiness keeps the weight light and prevents any sense of feeling overwhelmed by Tallera’s voluminous fabric. Brooklyn Tweed Junction
Brioche knitting gathers stitches into soft wales, warm and airy and perfect to wrap about your neck. This scarf tips the central panel on the bias between parallel tracks for a distinctive and modern look. Once you’ve established the increases and decreases, Junction is a meditative knit. The pattern contains a scarf with traditional dimensions and a slightly oversized version that makes more visual impact. Brioche fabric won’t reveal its qualities until you’ve knit a few inches — wait to assess the effects and check your gauge. Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Arbor…

Brooklyn Tweed Corvid
Make a sweeping statement in this dramatic long coat with an innovative notched collar in cartridge rib. The fronts are cut away from hip to hem to swing freely open, and the drop shoulders create just a touch of detail at the narrow sleeves. The body is worked flat in three pieces and seamed; stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armholes and knit in the round to the cuffs. The collar and lower front extensions are picked up and knit after assembly. In woolen-spun Shelter, Corvid moves beautifully without weighing you down. Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Tapestry
Wrap up in subtle colorwork reminiscent of fine needlepoint. This jacquard long cardigan in five shades of Loft features chevrons worked with purl stitches to interlock the colors and create intriguing texture. Tapestry is worked in the round with steeks, which are fully enclosed by the knit-on edging during finishing. The wrap-front torso is worked without shaping and is designed for lots of ease. Set-in half sleeves keep the proportions balanced. Belt your cardigan closed or let the fronts hang open as you prefer. Designer: Véronik Avery Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Spearheads
A bold Icelandic-style yoke printed with a spirograph of interlacing chevrons is striking on anybody. Spearheads knits up lightning fast in two high-contrast colors of Quarry to fend off the winter chill. We paired Gypsum with Lazulite and Hematite; imagine the yoke in Citrine on a background of Obsidian or marry Slate with Sandstone for a mellow contrast. Reversing the dark and light colors should be equally successful. Choose single or double rib for the hem, cuffs and neckband according to your liking. Pattern includes unisex sizing. Brooklyn Tweed Willamette
For gorgeous gift knitting, try Willamette, a deeply textured scarf with a reversible motif of cabled diamonds over garter stitch. There’s a chart for the A side and another for the B side; alternate knitting a row from each and you’ll end up with a beautifully patterned fabric that’s different but equally arresting on both sides. Willamette is active knitting with cables on every row, but the geometric motifs are predictable and easy to track. The pattern can be worked in Shelter for oversized coziness or in Loft for a scarf of more traditional scale.

Brooklyn Tweed Tilda
The Tilda Cardigan takes a great basic shape and embellishes it with whimsical details. The column of eyelets along each side seam begins at the hem and flows directly into the raglan lines on both fronts and back. The stockinette button band is flanked on either side by a pair of simple cables, while the garment’s body and three-quarter sleeves are trimmed with an optional contrasting color rolled edge. The generous scoop neck begs to be styled with shirts featuring interesting collars (or cowls).

Brooklyn Tweed Auden
“This design draws inspiration from both the new and old. I was intrigued by the modernity and drape of an oversized dolman tee, and I also loved the soft femininity of the simple, delicate prints of liberty cotton and vintage summer dresses. This pullover combines the two into the best of both worlds: a gentle, fern-like, allover cable motif joins with a loose and wonderfully drapey shape to create the perfect spring or summer sweater.” – Bristol Ivy Designer: Bristol Ivy Collection: Wool People, Volume…

Brooklyn Tweed Trestle
“I love chevrons! I cannot get enough. I particularly love how they distort a seemingly straightforward row of knitting into spectacular peaks and valleys. Pair a chevron with the humble stripe and boom! My knitter’s heart beats a little faster. Taking into account that chevrons don’t make a rectangular shape on their own, I have helped them out by filling in the corners. This creates a few extra pieces to knit to make a shape that resembles a sweater, but the end result is a garment that is interesting to knit. Interesting to knit while being all knit!

Brooklyn Tweed Driftwood
Driftwood is the perfect knockaround sweater for fall – with an oversized fit, luxurious ribbed turtleneck and a soft, squishable stitch pattern, you’ll love wearing this at home or on the go. Because the Loop Stitch is denser than regular stockinette stitch, you will work the body fabric of the garment on a larger-than-average needle for a worsted weight yarn; this is necessary to create the supple cushion-like fabric that makes this sweater so irresistible. Brooklyn Tweed Autumn Leaves
This rectangular lace stole is worked in two separate halves. The first half is cast on at the outer edge and worked in towards the center. After the first half is complete, stitches are put on a holder and the second half is worked in the same manner as the first. After both halves have been completed, the live stitches from both sides are grafted together invisibly using Kitchener Stitch. This directional method is used so that lace motifs are vertically mirrored on both halves. Designer: Jared Flood Collection…

Brooklyn Tweed Rook
“During the design process, my aim was to create a timeless garment containing both traditional and modern features. I chose a diamond motif with moss stitch that I saw in a fisherman’s sweater because not only is it a beautifully textured stitch, but I can also use it either as a single line of diamonds (as in the sleeve) or a line of multiple diamonds (as in the body). Instead of having a traditional vertical line of purl stitches on either side, I used stockinette stitch to encircle the motif to keep the whole design clean and simple. The sweater is knit top down.
