OBEY was founded by Shepard Fairey in 1989 with the goal of reawakening our sense of wonder about our environment and stimulating our curiosity. Over three decades later, OBEY is still challenging peoples' perspectives. We’ve teamed up with Obey Giant to create this special edition set of pencils that encourages you to see things differently. Each pencil features a two-toned blue finish with a cream imprint, gold ferrule, gold clip, red eraser, and our balanced graphite. Each 12-pack also comes packaged with a sleeve designed by Shepard Fairey himself.

Every Blackwing Eras Slate Notebook features our signature lay-flat binding and pencil holster that comes loaded with a Blackwing Eras pencil inspired by some of the earliest Blackwings ever produced. Blackwing pencils were favored by award-winning creators throughout the 20th century. Despite a cult following, they were discontinued in the 1990s. Devotees began paying as much as $40 on eBay for a single pencil. In the early 2000s, we used our access to the best wood, graphite and artisan makers in the world to introduce a premium pencil line we called Palomino. The buzz surrounding Palomino led Blackwing fans to ask us to try and bring Blackwing pencils back for a new generation. In 2010, we did just that.

When the Preservation Hall was founded in the 1960s, its mission was to preserve the living tradition of New Orleans jazz music. They've done so through the nightly ritual of intimate acoustic performances held at the Preservation Hall and at similar venues around the world. In 2011, they took their mission a step further by establishing the Preservation Hall Foundation to bring the New Orleans musical tradition into classrooms and community centers in New Orleans and beyond.
