“When I was swatching designs for this fall’s collection, I found myself again and again drawn to lace and cable combinations. After designing the Bray pullover I was still wanting to explore ideas with the same stitch motifs and felt that a matching cap would be fitting. The relief-like horseshoe cables contrast with the graphic eyelet columns and smaller cables to create a fabric that has textural appeal but remains light and open. The fabric has good elasticity and fits a range of adult head sizes comfortably.” –Jared Flood Designer: Jared Flood Collection: Fall…

Brooklyn Tweed Hutchin
A hedge of cables rings this pert cap, then twines organically upward to the crown. Brooklyn Tweed Spearheads
A bold Icelandic-style yoke printed with a spirograph of interlacing chevrons is striking on anybody. Spearheads knits up lightning fast in two high-contrast colors of Quarry to fend off the winter chill. We paired Gypsum with Lazulite and Hematite; imagine the yoke in Citrine on a background of Obsidian or marry Slate with Sandstone for a mellow contrast. Brooklyn Tweed Driftwood
Driftwood is the perfect knockaround sweater for fall – with an oversized fit, luxurious ribbed turtleneck and a soft, squishable stitch pattern, you’ll love wearing this at home or on the go. Because the Loop Stitch is denser than regular stockinette stitch, you will work the body fabric of the garment on a larger-than-average needle for a worsted weight yarn; this is necessary to create the supple cushion-like fabric that makes this sweater so irresistible. Brooklyn Tweed Douro
Light and lofty brioche stitch makes the ideal wrap or lap blanket. Douro explores the possibilities of traveling lines in brioche, wandering from symmetry to asymmetry and back to regular ribs. The two halves culminate in a band of garter stitch fused at the center spine with the Joinery Bind-Off. Worked from written instructions, this pattern is a good way to step up from basic brioche knitting. Designer: Norah Gaughan Collection: Winter…

Brooklyn Tweed Collomia
The on-trend silhouette of the Collomia pullover offers a dramatic canvas for a timeless stranded colorwork yoke. The woolen-spun texture of Shelter yarn softens the bold stripes and ornate snowflake motifs. With seams only at the underarms and knit at a worsted gauge, Collomia is just as alluring to knit as it is to wear. Knit from the bottom up, the front and back of Collomia are cast on separately for the split hem, then joined knit circularly in one piece. The colorful yoke is worked in the round.

Brooklyn Tweed Tree Rings
“This pi shawl gracefully blends Elizabeth Zimmermann’s traditional construction with fresh textures. While many pi shawls employ only lace patterns, this one focuses on rich texture and motion, drawing the eye from the center outward and then around the circumference of the circle as the chevrons point the way. The stitch patterns used are very simple and can easily be memorized, but the resulting fabric is mesmerizing.” – Andrea Rangel Designer: Andrea Rangel Collection: Wool People, Volume…

Brooklyn Tweed Equus
This workhorse sweater, embellished with a field of fine cables on the central panels, will see you through any busy day in comfort. The relaxed A-line fit is easy to wear, and slim set-in sleeves and carefully tailored shoulders ensure a polished look. The three narrow panels of the front and back are knit separately, then sewn with an exposed seam for a touch of rugged texture. A classic close-fitting turtleneck in double rib makes Equus extra cozy. Porter black gives this sweater a sophisticated note; a bright autumn hue from the Arbor palette might lift your mood on a cloudy day.

Brooklyn Tweed Leaves of Grass
A good Pi Shawl is always welcome in my knitting bag. This type of construction, developed by Elizabeth Zimmermann in the 1950’s, is a perfect balance between mindless and attentive knitting. Upon completion of Chart A, the entire shawl will have only 4 total shaping rounds remaining. You’ll be amazed at how quickly this project will fly off your needles! Named after the stunning collection of poetry by American poet Walt Whitman, these pretty motifs remind me of the Spring Thaw and the plant life that returns after Winter’s end. Brooklyn Tweed Lolo
Architectural lines and innovative construction elevate an aviator cap you can knit with a single skein of Shelter. Lolo is worked sideways from a provisional cast-on; crown shaping is achieved with short rows while increases and decreases form a sinuous brim that covers the ears. Lines of slipped stitches flow across the garter background to accentuate the shaping and create sculptural shifts in texture. This unisex hat can be knit in multiple sizes by changing needle size and gauge; directions are given for 18” and 20” circumferences.

Brooklyn Tweed Stonecutter
“To give the basic Aran pullover a little pizzazz, I added the bias cables on the front and back pieces. They add interest not only by changing the flow of the cables, but by changing the entire silhouette of the sweater. The biasing gives the slightest hint of a peplum and accentuates the waist naturally. And to keep the femininity, the neckband is a soft rollover versus a traditional ribbed neckband.” – Michele Wang Designer: Michele Wang Collection: Fall…
