The familiar becomes fascinating in Vegetables, a family of four placemats that combine robust and easy-to-clean woven textiles with the vivid precision of digital printing. This special edition began with a visit to NYC’s Union Square Greenmarket, where members of our design team selected a colorful array of farm-fresh produce. Back at the studio, cross-sections of individual vegetables were photographed at close range to reveal intriguing patterns and unexpected forms. Portraits of these natural wonders complement one another but can also stand alone. Reverses to solid ivory.

Chilewich Overshot Table Runner Samples - Thyme
With lively yet refined rows of interlocking concentric circles, Overshot is a contemporary interpretation of traditional textiles. It is named for a weave structure with a long history and a distinctive construction: as the weft yarn jumps or "shoots" over the foundational plain weave of the warp yarns, a decorative pattern layer is created. This design takes inspiration from vintage American coverlets. Used as the topmost covering on a bed and distinct from quilts, these woven textiles were especially popular during the early to mid- nineteenth century.

Chilewich Rosette Table Runners - Abalone
Developed in collaboration with Martha Stewart, who has grown roses in her own flower gardens for more than 25 years, Rosette pushes the boundaries of weaving to recreate the abundant blooms of cabbage roses, named for their multitude of petals per blossom. Our design team began by drawing each rose by hand to ensure the individual nuances would be visible within the weave. As the flowers came to life on the loom, the team experimented with scale, refined the shapes, and fine-tuned the shading to arrive at the extraordinary final design.
