The first eight colors inspired by our OG color-separating blend, CfM Riverbed ! We wanted to try our hand at making even more layered colors—and once we got going, we couldn't stop! Team members were texting ideas, swatches and color scraps covered our work tables, and our resident poets began thinking up fun names . . . while in the span of a week two colors turned into three which turned into seven . . . you get the idea! Our response to September 9th, 2020, when smoke and ash from a devastating fire season hovered above the Bay Area marine layer, blocking out the daylight. Custom blended from four of our core pigments, Climate Change is Real represents the color of the sky the day the sun didn't rise. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!

100% cotton, cold press watercolor paper with the lovely, soft texture of our dreams! Ideal for watercolor, gouache or inks, and wonderfully compatible with our favorite Nichiban masking tape or liquid frisket . When our manufacturer gauged our interest in colorful glued edges, we of course replied, "Well, how many colors can we have?!" We really didn't anticipate how cute they would turn out—and we're absolutely obsessed! The blocks are glue-bound on all four sides, so your paper stays flat while you paint and as your work dries.

Indigo was one of our first handmade watercolors, a must-have in a palette! This rich synthetic color simulates Genuine Indigo and provides a wide range of tones—at its darkest it appears almost black! Both colors are fantastic for layering, glazing, and color mixing (a little bit goes a long way!) and are wonderfully opaque at full saturation. Genuine Indigo is derived from the Indigofera tinctoria plant through a fermentation process, and further refined to achieve greater saturation and intensity.

A smooth, semi-transparent and lightfast lake pigment. It’s made by fixing a manufactured French mineral pigment to a natural calcium carbonate base, which gives it a soft, velvety matte finish when dry.
