Our response to September 9th, 2020, when smoke and ash from a devastating fire season hovered above the Bay Area marine layer, blocking out the daylight. Custom blended from four of our core pigments, Climate Change is Real represents the color of the sky the day the sun didn't rise. All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!

100% cotton, cold press watercolor paper with the lovely, soft texture of our dreams! Ideal for watercolor, gouache or inks, and wonderfully compatible with our favorite Nichiban masking tape or liquid frisket . When our manufacturer gauged our interest in colorful glued edges, we of course replied, "Well, how many colors can we have?!" We really didn't anticipate how cute they would turn out—and we're absolutely obsessed! The blocks are glue-bound on all four sides, so your paper stays flat while you paint and as your work dries.

An ultra-bright synthetic! Like all our fluorescents, this fun glowy pink is opaque and super smooth. Fluorescents absorb invisible UV light energy and reemit it at a higher visible wavelength. Indigo was one of our first handmade watercolors, a must-have in a palette! This rich synthetic color simulates Genuine Indigo and provides a wide range of tones—at its darkest it appears almost black! Both colors are fantastic for layering, glazing, and color mixing (a little bit goes a long way!) and are wonderfully opaque at full saturation. Genuine Indigo is derived from the Indigofera tinctoria plant through a fermentation process, and further refined to achieve greater saturation and intensity.

CfM Oxalis captures the cheery yellow of the California wildflower also known as Woodsorrel, which Bay Area locals might remember from childhood as Sourgrass. Here in San Francisco, Oxalis seems to pop up from every available patch of soil in mid-February, and we wanted to celebrate this annual harbinger of spring! Oxalis flowers make a wonderful, potent natural yellow dye, and CfM Oxalis was inspired by the flower and the slightly more orange dye bath.
